In the working session, Mr. Loh Waikeong shared with Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Lang about Ascendas – Protrade’s objectives to attract investment in production based on the foundation of advanced technologies and affirmed Ascendas – Protrade’s commitment when implementing Singapore Tech Park project to bring in high technologies to Vietnam. Therefore, Ascendas – Protrade hoped to have cooperation and support from MOST to fulfill this commitment.
Mr. Loh Waikeong introduced with the Deputy Minister about Ascendas’s some high technologies in producing packing materials, electronic fiber glass,… and said that Ascendas was selecting locations to introduce these technologies to Vietnam. When factories go into production, research and development activities would be developed one more step and create many higher products.
“Ascendas-Protrade believed a lot in Vietnam’s potentials and development. Beside this project, Ascendas - Protrade has a plan to expand other technology projects here”, Mr. Loh Waikeong said.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Lang congratulated for the success of Singapore Tech Park and was impressed with Ascendas – Protrade’s development. The Deputy Minister affirmed that this has been a big group which invests in infrastructure of industrial zones, high technology zones, software zone in Asia and the world. Therefore, the Deputy Minister hoped that Ascendas – Protrade, in addition to investment in Singapore Tech Park, would expand its investment in the infrastructure of software zones, contributing to promote the development of Vietnam’s software industry.
The Deputy Minister proposed Ascendas - Protrade to pay attention to issues relating to intellectual property, research and development activities in factories and projects as stipulated in the Law on High Technology. The Deputy Minister emphasized that research and development has been the key issue of any enterprise when investing in Vietnam. With factories which have the investment scale of hundreds of millions USD it is necessary to carry out research and development activities as stipulated by laws in order to develop technologies for only for now but also for a long time.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Lang believed the cooperation of the two parties would certainly have good results for the coming time.
