Opening the 8th Friendship Festival of Vietnamese – Indian People

In the morning of December 03, 2016 in Hanoi took place the 8th Friendship Festival of Vietnamese – Indian People. Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh attended and delivered a speech in the Festival.

Attending the Festival were Deputy Director of the Commission for Foreign Relations of the Central Party Committee Tran Dac Loi; Vice Chairman concurrently the General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Envoy of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National S&T Policy Council, Chairman of Vietnamese – Indian People Friendship Association Hoang Van Phong.

Regarding the Indian delegation were Mr. Kannan Lakshminarayanan, Head of the Indian People’s delegation; Ms. Nina Tshering La, Temporary representative of India Republic in Vietnam and Vietnamese and Indian delegates; representatives from relevant organizations, agencies and individuals.
 


The overview of the Festival

Delivering a speech in the Festival, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh said since 2007 the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Vietnam – Indian People Friendship Association and All India Peace and Solidarity Organization coordinated to successfully organize 7 festivals of Vietnamese – Indian People and this time the 8th Festival was organized in Vietnam. “This event has the important meaning to prepare in 2017 – the year which is defined by leaders of the two countries “Year of Vietnam – India Friendship” in order to celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic partnership relations”, the Minister emphasized.

Minister Chu Ngoc Anh highly appreciated India’s strong development over the past years, especially in fields of education, training and S&T, which is one of the 10 biggest economy in the world with the GDP of more than USD 2,000 billion in 2015 and become one country with more important position and voice in the region and in the international world. The Minister said that the success of these festivals has contributed an important part to strengthen and promote traditional friendship relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister hoped that activities of the Festival would continue reinforce, strengthen and promote Vietnam – India comprehensive strategic partnership relations to develop into a deep level and become practical for the coming time.

Delivering a speech in the Festival, Mr. Kannan Lakshminarayanan emphasized important roles of people’s organizations, All India Peace and Solidarity Organization, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Vietnam – Indian People Friendship Association in the organization of many activities to promote more friendship relations between the two countries over the past time. Mr. Kannan Lakshminarayanan expressed his belief in organizing successfully the 8th Festival of Vietnamese – India People to show the determination of the two countries in order to strengthen friendship at all levels with the slogan “My name, your name is Vietnam, Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh – we together fight and will win”.
