Bridge for domestic and international science and technology: The Center for Vietnam S&T Internationalization Promotion welcomes and supports Bohol Agricultural Extension Association, Republic of the Philippines to connect with Vietnamese partners

From from 7th September, 2019 to 11th September, 2019 the Center for Vietnam Science &Technology Internationalization Promotion (VISTIP) has received the Delegation from Bohol Association of Agriculture Extension Workers (AEW) of Bohol province, Republic of the Philippines. The delegation consisted of 19 people led by Ms. Lorebien N. Lagapa - Bohol Province Seed Program Coordinator.

At the meeting, the two sides have introduced the functions, duties and strengths of each side, exchanged opportunities for cooperation between the two sides. Mr. Bui Quy Long - Director of VISTIP emphasized the organization’s role as a bridge to support ministries, sectors, localities and businesses in international cooperation and integration in science and technology. The center is always ready to connect and share with partners, support the AEW of Bohol to visit, explore cooperative opportunities and support the implementation of cooperation projects between AEW with appropriate partners in Vietnam in the near future.

Within the framework of the visit’s program, with the support and connection of VISTIP, the Bohol province’s AEW Delegation has visited some other partners in Vietnam such as:

- Visited and worked with the National Agricultural Extension Center (NAEC), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The delegation has discussed opportunities for cooperation in extension work, participating in extension networks, sharing experiences on projects implementation with NAEC

- Met with leaders of Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI) under The Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS). During the visit the delegates have learned about functions and tasks of FCRI, with focused on rice seeds multiplication  and models on fruits cultivation. The possibilities of collaboration, especially on rice varieties exchanging were also raised by both sides.

- Through the introduce and support from NAEC and Hai Duong Agricultural Extension Center, the Delegation visited the most advanced fishes feeding model in Xuyen Viet cooperative. This cooperative was introduced as the one of the newest successful typical agricultural startup, that is operated followed the new model on Cooperative of Vietnam. The participants from both sides have discussed on possible cooperation activities on technology transferring in aquaculture sector.

- Learned experiences on tea planting, processing and models on fruits cultivating on slopping lands from Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (NOMAFSI) under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Science (VAAS).

Ending the working program, the Delegation of Bohol Agricultural Extension Workers has highly appreciated the strong support of VISTIP. With the help of VISTIP, the delegation was able to visit and learn more experiences on agricultural extension/ technologies transferring from Vietnam. Beside those, they identifies some potential cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners in Vietnam. The delegates expressed their thanks to VISTIP and expectation on more collaboration activities with VISTIP as well as Vietnamese partners in coming time with continue strong supports from VISTIP and its ministry of Science and Technology.
