This is the annual Conference aimed at reviewing and wrapping up the one-year implementation of IP activities nationwide, based on that to have orientations for IP activities for the coming years.
According to the overview report on the State management for IP in 2010, handling of IP violations in locations has mainly focused on branding and industrial designing, which are subjects easy to access, at the same time they are in programs against fake goods and bad-quality goods of implementing agencies.
As according to this report, regarding the total figure of the whole nation there have been 1,632 cases in terms of branding with the total penalty amounts of near VND 5 billion. The number of cases of violating industrial designing has increased with 215 as compared with that of 2009 but the penalty amount has reduced to nearly VND 400 million. Cases of handling unhealthy competing actions have reduced as compared with that of the last year with the total penalty amount of nearly VND 70 million.
Delivering a speech at the Conference, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân emphasized that the Conference this year should be focused to make clear gained results, difficulties and issues which need to be solved not only in 2010 but also for the 2006-2010 period in order to continue carrying out IP management activities with good results in the new period time. The Deputy Minister also proposed that the Conference should be focused on discussing and agreeing on ways to solve issue in identifying rights, especially for industrial designing subjects which are closely linked with local special products; difficulties in management and implementation of IP rights.
Within the framework of the Conference, participants focused on discussing on 3 main topics including strengthening the State management on IT at Central and local level; Supporting enterprises to develop intellectual properties; Protecting, managing geographical instructions, collective branding, certified branding.
