The Ceremony on announcing Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards, WIPO Awards 2009

On 15/4/2010, in Hanoi Ministry of Science and Technology coordinated with the Union of Vietnam Science and Techniques Associations to organize the Ceremony on announcing Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, WIPO Awards 2009.

In 2009, the Award Organizing Committee decided to present awards for 39 works. Among them there were 4 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 12 third prizes and 13 consolation prizes. The total amount paid to the prizes was VND 630 million.

The Organizing Committee said that it has proposed the World Intellectual Property Organization to nominate WIPO awards (prizes of the organization) for some works awarded the first prizes in the field of material technology, which belonged to the Sewage and Development One-member Limited Company in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the most outstanding female author from Hanoi Polytechnique University whose work was awarded the third prize in the material field.

The award has been focused on State key science and technology fields such as Biology for production and life; Information technology, Electronics and Telecommunications; Mechanics and Automation, Material technology; Technology for environment protection and appropriate use of natural resources; Technology to save energy and use new energy.

Works participated in the award nomination are research and application results of State key S&T programs and themes, research themes to solve S&T issues in production of enterprises. Over the past 15 years (1995 - 2010), there have been nearly 2,000 works participated in the award nomination and 500 works have been awarded. The awarded works have been applied in production, bringing in high social and economic efficiency, contributing to promote the production of enterprises; increased the productivity, quality, reduced product prices and replaced imported goods.

This is the award which is aimed at encouraging scientists to deeply do researches, apply modern S&T achievements and technologies appropriate with Vietnam’s conditions in production and life. It was expected that the awarding ceremony would be organized on 19/4/2010 in the Opera house.
