Managerial-level Meeting between the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and Korean Intellectual Property Office

The two parties were pleased to recognize this meeting was a practical activity to celebrate the 20 anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between VietnamSouth Korea (22/12/1992 - 22/12/2012). The two parties have updated the development status of the world intellectual property system, especially projects of IP5 (5 leading intellectual property agencies in the world) and status of ASEAN intellectual property system and those of East Asia countries. Then the two parties agreed to strengthen sharing and coordinating their viewpoints about intellectual property issues of the world and regions which the two parties are interested. The two leaders also happily recognized that activities under the Cooperation plan 2011 have been implemented efficiently. The two parties agreed that cooperation activities 2012 would continue its traditional content as training staff and in addition, study opportunities to expand cooperation into new contents as automation, supporting enterprise support and searching patent information.

When the high-level meeting concluded, Director Tạ Quang Minh and Director Ho Won Kim signed the Cooperation plan 2012 between NOIP and KIPO.

Outside the meeting, the delegation of NOIP visited the Korean Patent Information Publication Center (PIPC). This is the center for provide searching services for KIPO and other private customers. In the visit, the delegation of NOIP had a useful discussion with PIPC and learnt from a lot of its experience in ways of providing intellectual property services and establishing database on industrial property.

In addition, the delegation of NOIP also had a working session with Korean Incentive Patent Association (KIPA). The two parties shared some experience in incentive activities and opened some new cooperation directions, specifically sharing patent valuation tools and supporting to establish branding strategies.
