Participating in the Workshop, on the Japanese side were Professor Toshiya Watanabe, lecturer at Tokyo University; Professor Hiroshi Kato, lecturer at Nihon University; on the Vietnamese side were Mr. Vũ Văn Khiêm, Director of MTI, Mr. Trần Công Yên, Deputy Director of MTI; Ms. Lê Thị Việt Lâm, Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation – MOST; together with agencies under MOST, universities, research institutes relating to fields of domestic intellectual property and technology transfer.
In the Workshop, participants have been provided with lectures of two Japanese professors to introduce some topics on intellectual property management and technology transfer as giving lectures on intellectual property rights, ways to commercialize research results, transfer technology and transfer of intellectual property rights. Also in the Workshop, Vietnamese experts also share a lot of experience on intellectual property management and technology transfer in Vietnamese universities. On that basis, experts and participants discussed together to better understand Japanese experience and possible solutions in order to promote intellectual property management and technology transfer appropriate with Vietnam’s current situation.
Delivering a speech in the Workshop, Mr. Vũ Văn Khiêm affirmed that over the past time, intellectual property has become more important with the social – economic development and international integration. Japan is one of the nations whose economy develops the first in the world thanks to the intellectual property based development policies. The Workshop has been a good opportunity for the two parties to understand and discuss about aspects relating to intellectual property management and technology transfer; create opportunities for Vietnamese experts to absorb and learn Japanese experience in order to contribute supporting Vietnam to meet international standards and create an active breakthrough during the international integration.
