In the meeting, Deputy Minister expressed his thanks for the Japanese party for its practical support to Vietnamin the national nuclear power program as training human resources, developing legal and regulatory documents, carrying out technical assistance,… The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated cooperation results among Japanese nuclear agencies with Vietnamese counterparts over the past time and hoped to strengthen more cooperation activities between the two parties for the coming time.

Mr. Hideo Suzuki, the Ambassador of Japanese Embassy in Vietnam reported to the Deputy Minister on the current development status of nuclear power in Japan as well as the cooperation plan between the two parties for the coming time. Mr. Hideo Suzuki also reported on the working purpose of this mission with Vietnamese relevant agencies and working results of representatives of Vietnamese relevant Ministries and branches on damage compensation system and mechanisms for atomic energy insurance.

Before, a meeting took place between the Japanese mission and leader of Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety with the participation of representatives from the Office of the Government, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Technology and EVN.

In this meeting, the two parties discussed about issues relating to damage compensation system and mechanisms for atomic energy insurance of Japan and Vietnam. The two parties agreed about the establishment of working groups in order to promote and share awareness of the two parties on issues to be amended in damage compensation system for atomic energy.
