Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien met with Rosatom Delegation

On February 10, 2012, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien met with the mission of Russian Atomic Energy Group Rosatom, led by Mr. Peter G. Shchedrovitsky, the advisor of the General Director.

In the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien said that the signed Inter-governmental Agreement between two countries on building nuclear power plant Ninh Thuận 1 has promoted cooperation activities between Rosatom and agencies in Vietnam’s atomic energy field. The two parties have actively coordinated in many activities as developing legal and regulatory documents,establishing the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology(CNST) and training for human resource. The Deputy Minister also expressed his believes that cooperation results would contribute to the success of building Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant.

Mr. Petr G. Shchedrovitsky thanked the Deputy Minister for spending time to meet with the mission and emphasized that the development of legal and regulatory documents has been one of important cooperation activities between the two parties. Rosatom has been ready to receive Vietnam’s experts to study and work in Russia and directly participate in activities of different stages of the nuclear power plant. Regarding the establishment of CNST, the Russian party also hoped to speed up the progress, select locations and agree on different issues so that the Center would be put into operations 1 year before the first nuclear power plant goes into operation. Mr.Petr G. Shchedrovitsky also hoped these cooperation activities would be strengthened and broughtin good results for the coming time.
