President of Mexican Upper House to visit Hoa Lac High-Tech Park

President of Mexican Upper House, Mr. Gonza Gonzalez visited and had a working session with Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (HTP) in the morning of January 13, 2012 when he paid a visit and worked in Vietnam.

Participating in the meeting were Doctor Nguyen Van Lang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (MOST), concurrently the Director of the Management Board of Hoa Lac HTP; Mr. Lê Tất Khương, Director of the Center for Regional Research and Development; Mr. Đào Đức Bảy, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Hoa Lac HTP together with staff from the Park and some agencies under MOST in the Vietnamese side. In the Mexican side, were the representative of the Mexican Embassy to Vietnam and members of the mission.

In the meeting, Doctor Nguyen Van Lang introduced with Mr. Jose Gonza Gonzalez and members of the mission about the status of building and developing Hoa Lac HTP over the past time. Accordingly, the Management Board of Hoa Lac HTP has attracted 61 investment projects with the total investment capital of VND 31,287.35 billion on the area of 222.82 ha. Only in 2011, the Management Board of Hoa Lac HTP has attracted 12 projects with the total registered investment capital of VND 10,832.26 billion, the turnover of more than VND 1,300 billion, in which the export has reached over VND 417 billion, contributing to the State budget with the amount of VND 45 billion.

Doctor Nguyen Van Lang said that he had an opportunity to visit Mexico and admired a lot the development of the country. He hoped that this visit would open cooperation opportunities with Mexico in many S&T fields, especially remote sensing technology.

With spirits of open discussions, Mr. Jose Gonza Gonzalez Mexico said that he was very impressive with what Hoa Lac has achieved from development planning, human resource development, investment in infrastructure, which Mexico hasn’t been able to carry out in a systematic way before as Vietnam. He also emphasized that Mexico has been a country with the economy of the 14th ranking in the world, and its market is open to more than 40 nations in with world with many spearhead S&T industries as health, cosmology… These are favorable conditions to expand cooperative relations, especially in the field of technology transfer to Vietnam.

In the meeting, the two parties have proposed many cooperation directions in the future as exchanging students, graduates, research projects in some fields as health, medicine manufacturing from natural material sources… Especially, attention will be paid to the progress of the project on small satellite development which Mexico transfers.
