Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan thanked Austrian President and Government for giving Vietnamese Government’s high-level mission with the royal and friendly treatment. Deputy Prime Minister informed the Austrian President of Vietnam’s status, directions and policies on development and integration for the coming time; expressed his sincere thanks for precious sentiments and supports Austrian Government, people and the President himself gave for Vietnam during the resistance to fight for the national independence and country’s reunion before as well as the country’s building and development nowadays, at the same time affirmed that Vietnam has always respected and tried its best to look after good friendship and traditional cooperation with Austria.
President Heinz Fischer highly appreciated cooperation agreements the Ministry of Science and Technology have just signed. At the same time, the President expressed his pleasure with important social and economic development achievement Vietnam has gained over the past years, especially the hunger alleviation and poverty reduction and maintenance of rather high growth rate in the context that the world economics have been faced with many difficulties; expressed his pleasure when recognizing friendship relations and multi-dimension cooperation between the two countries have continued to develop actively and thoroughly, especially after President Nguyen Minh Triet’s visit to Austria in 2008.

Discussing on cooperative relations between Vietnam and Austria for the coming time, the two parties agreed to focus and prioritize on strengthening cooperation in economics, trade, investment, university education and scientific research. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy which is to respect and create favorable conditions for Austrian enterprises to invest and do business for a long time and in effective and stale manner in Vietnam, at the same time he hoped that the two parties would have specific implementation of cooperation agreements in fields of university education and scientific research mentioned in the visit, especially Austrian supports and participation in the establishment of some outstanding scientific research centers in Vietnam in fields Austria has had its strengths as transportation, energy, environment, biology technology, nano technology, space technology and clean agriculture technology.
The two parties agreed to close coordinate the organization activities to celebrate 40-year anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2012, especially cultural, research cooperation, science – technology, education – training activities, contributing to strengthen and promote friendships and mutual understanding between the two nations.
President of Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer thanked for the invitation to visit Vietnam offered by State President Truong Tan Sang and said that he would pay an official visit to Vietnam in early six months of 2012.
