Minister Hoàng Văn Phong met with British Ambassador

On 06/10/2010, in Hanoi Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) Hoàng Văn Phong met with Mr. Mark Kent – British Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam before he completes his term in Vietnam.

In the meeting, Minister Hoàng Văn Phong highly appreciated activities carried out by the Ambassador in promoting S&T cooperation relations between the two countries in the past term and wished him to fulfill well with his new position.

The Minister affirmed that after many cooperation years, relations between the two countries, two Governments of the United Kingdom and Vietnam have achieved a lot of progress, especially in S&T field. Vietnamese scientists have always aware of supports provided by scientists and S&T organization of the United Kingdom. MOST hoped that the cooperation among scientific organizations of the two countries would develop more and more.

MOST currently has some programs and projects as applying biology technology and improving seedlings and breeding; carrying out research and response to climate change,… which really need the cooperation of international communities and the Minister puts a lot of hope on the cooperation among scientists of the two countries, which would contribute to the success of the programs and projects.

Mr. Mark Kent shared he himself and the Government of United Kingdom were very pleased with bilateral cooperation relations which were developing well between the two countries. The S&T cooperation has been defined as one of the focus of strategic cooperation programs between Vietnam and United Kingdom. Mr. Mark Kent expressed his thanks to the Minister, his colleagues and British Embassy for providing him with cooperation opportunities with MOST and hoped the cooperation on S&T field between the two countries would develop more and more. Ambassador Mark Kent hoped that the two countries would soon sing the Memorandum of Understanding on research cooperation in the field of biology technology.
