Deputy Minister Nguyen Quan met with World Bank’s experts

On 17/8/2009, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan had a meeting with two World Bank experts (WB), Dr. R.A. Mashelkar and Dr. Vinod K. Goel.

In May 5, 2009, WB’s President of Vietnam had a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and affirmed to support Vietnam with the Agenda implementation in order to improve the economy’s competitiveness, in which S&T and creative innovation play an important dynamic role. In order to provide practical and efficient supports, WB has invited Dr. R.A. Mashelkar and Dr. Vinod K. Goel to work with MOST and relevant agencies to organize the overall assessment on Vietnam’s system of creative innovation, then recognize key plans of action to support Vietnam’s Government to improve capacities of this system.

In the meeting, Deputy Minister expressed his sincere thanks for the cooperation of the two experts as well as that of WB and exchanged some issues which need WB’s cooperation relating to Vietnam’s system of creative innovation. Among S&T activities, Vietnam has been carrying out innovation in order to meet requirements of development and international economic integration. Deputy Minister Nguyen Quan has expressed desires that WB cooperates to support Vietnam with establishing assessment criteria for technology level and making technology mapping – this is the important base for technology innovation to begin from which place, field and sector; establishing some competitive criteria; share experience in setting up and operating funds of S&T, technology renovation, and risk investment.
