From February 19 to 22, 2012, the mission of Argentina’s National Council for Science and Technology Research, led by Doctor Faustino Sineriz –Vice Chairman of Argentina’s National Council for Science and Technology Research paid a visit to Vietnam.

On the occasion of this visit, on February20, 2012, Ministry of Science and Technology coordinated with the Argentinian Embassy to Vietnam to organize the first forum on “Vietnam – Argentina Technology Linkage and Innovation” in Hanoi.

Attending the forum were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nghiem Vu Khai, Director of Department of International CooperationMai Hà, Vice Chairman of Argentina’s National Council for Science and Technology Research Faustino Sineriz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Argentina in Vietnam Alberto Jaime Kaminker; together with representatives from Argentina and Vietnam’s enterprises.

Objectives of the mission were to promote technology cooperation and innovation in some Asian countries (Vietnam, China, Malaysia, and Singapore) and Vietnam was the first stop. This event has showed Argentina’s special attention to promoting cooperative relations in S&T research and use with Vietnam. This visit has opened a new turning point in the development of S&T relations between the two countries. Vietnam has cooperated in S&T with Argentina for 15 years and carried out many research projects in fields of science, biology and energy.

In this forum, the two parties mentioned many potential cooperation fields as transferring technology, patent, new materials, biology technology used for plants, veterinary and human beings, Nano technology and software. Through discussions in the forum a new opportunity in S&T cooperation activities between Vietnam and Argentina.

Assessing the meaning of S&T cooperative relations between the two countries, Deputy Minister Nghiem Vu Khai said that Argentina has been a country whose economics is developing and S&T is advanced. Argentina has had many scientists who are awarded with Nobel prizes in fields of health, pharmacy, biology technology, space technology, using atomic energy for peaceful purposes. “After this visit the mission of Argentina’s National Council for S&T Research, cooperation between the two countries would move to a new higher level with specific cooperation programs and S&T projects. Among the nations there have been many agreements and unification in terms of diplomatic and political aspects which are the foundation for S&T cooperation in the future”, Deputy Nghiem Vu Khai affirmed.

Ambassador Alberto Jaime Kaminker affirmed this event would be the momentum for the development of S&T cooperative relations between the two countries.
