The session has highly reviewed S&T cooperation results between the two countries over the past time, discussed and agreed on the Cooperation Program for the 2009-2011 period. For the 2005-2008 period, within Vietnam – Italy S&T Cooperation framework, 15 projects have been implemented, in which the participation was mobilized from scientists under 18 Italian universities, research institutes, enterprises and 20 Vietnamese universities, research institutes, enterprises. Through cooperation activities, 50 professional scientific articles have been published in magazines of the two countries and prestigiously international professional magazines; 9 Vietnamese doctors and 3 Italian doctors have been trained; many S&T cooperation projects between the two countries have brought in high scientific values, which are efficiently applied in practice.
Delivering the speech in the session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quan has affirmed that Italia is an important partner of Vietnam, Vietnam – Italy S&T Cooperation has heped S&T communities of the two countries to have more close and efficient linkages. The Deputy Minister has also expressed hopes that for the coming time, S&T cooperation projects between the two parties would be improved more in terms of the quality, Vietnamese scientists would receive more supports from the Italian party.
When the session finished, the two parties signed Vietnam – Italy S&T Cooperation Program for the period from 2009-2011.
