Under the cooperation framework between Vietnam and United States of America on radiation and nuclear safety and control, experts of US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) has paid a working visit to Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear safety...

USNRC experts are John Earl Ramsey – policy consultant, Kirk Foggie – international cooperation expert, Sergey Savely K. – Vice Director of Advanced Systems Technology and Management (AdSTM), David Squarer and Eugene Vincent Imbro – system analysts of AdSTM and Leotwane Kgosietsile Wilbert – representative of Regulatory body in South Africa.
In the first working days, both parties exchanged cooperation results and discussed on new issues regarding training plans and following cooperation programmes. On behalf of Varans, Director General Ngo Dang Nhan introduced developments of Varans to US experts and highy appreciated the supports from US in training, providing technical devices, building regulatory documents in the field of atomic energy of Vietnam. US experts shared their experiences on seleting the right site and licensing for nuclear power plan. These topics have been cared by Vietnam government especially when Vietnam is on the way of the first nuclear power plan installation in Ninh Thuan province.
After meetings, Varans in cooperation with USNRC will hold the training workshop on reactor safety in Hanoi from 25-29 May, 2009.
