Minister Nguyen Quan met and worked with the VEF Delegation

On behalf of MOST’s leaders, Minister Nguyen Quan welcomed the VEF delegation to visit Vietnam and work with MOST and wish that the delegation’s visit would be successful.

In the working session, the VEF delegation introduced about some of their teaching programs in Vietnam in school year of 2011 - 2012 and reported to the Minister of cooperation possibilities in studies and teaching among US universities and Vietnamese partners. US scholars also shared their consideration to Vietnam recent achievements and development in S&T and hoped to look for cooperation opportunities so that they could support and contribute to this development.

Minister Nguyen Quan highly appreciated VEF’s efforts and contribution to Vietnam over the past time. The Minister said that MOST has had many years of cooperation with VEF to promote staff training for Vietnam. Many Vietnamese students have been supported by VEF to study and learn in the US, which has had active contributions for Vietnam’s education and S&T activities. The Minister believed that in the future MOST’s many young staff would be trained at high level in the US and West European countries.

At the same time the Minister thanked VEF for selecting and introducing professors participating in the training program for Vietnam. The Minister proposed that for the coming time VEF would send professors to directly training for students in Vietnam. MOST is willing to support Vietnamese students as well as research institutes, universities with selecting learners for this program and supporting the learners. MOST would closely coordinate with VEF so that the training process would increasingly get high results...

VEF is established by the US Parliament according to the Law on Vietnam Education Foundation in 2000 with the purpose of establishing education exchange activities for Vietnamese citizens according to programs on post graduation and professional development in US universities and for US citizens to participate in teaching in Vietnamese universities. Through these programs, it is contributed to develop bilateral relations between US and Vietnam for common interests of the two countries.

VEF’s education exchange activities are focused on sciences (nature, physics, environment), techniques, math, health (including public health and health science), and technology (including informational technology). These activities are carried out through three programs: Scholarship Program; Scholar Program; US Scholars to teach in Vietnam.
