IAEA’s expert Delegation for project assessment to work with the Nuclear Research Institute

From June 10 to 12, 2009, the Nuclear Research Institute (NRI) met and worked the expert Delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on assessing the efficiency of technical assistance projects for countries and regional cooperation...

The composition of the Delegation consists of Mr. Seetharam Mukkavilli, IAEA’s expert on project assessment, Mr. Vijay Kumar Raina, the Director of reactor research groups of BARC Center, India, who is the expert invited by IAEA. The two technical assistance projects for Vietnam, VIE/4/010 on upgrading the reactor’s controlling system for the 1992-1994 period and VIE/4/014 on improving the reactor’s controlling system for the 2005- 2007 period and 5 Asia- Pacific cooperation projects in 10 years from 1998- 2008, including RAS/4/019, RAS/4/020, RAS/4/022, RAS/4/024, RAS/4/026 have been presented and reviewed the efficiency. In addition to analyzing in details technical issues of the projects, achievements, issues arisen during the implementation process, lessons learnt, recommendations (if any), the experts have directly interviewed 7 staff who use and are using the reactor to irradiate the production of radio-active isotopes, analyze neutron activation and use neutron groups through horizontal channels of the reactor. Some staff (4 people) who were trained in the above-mentioned projects have been interviewed and answered questions prepared by IAEA.

The overall assessment of the experts is satisfied with the efficiency brought in by Dalat reactor through the implementation of IAEA’s technical assistance projects, region cooperation projects and domestic themes and tasks for social and economic purposes in the fields of health, industry, agriculture , environmental protection and human resource training .
