Awarding the Campaign Medal of S&T Cause for the General Director of WIPO

In the meeting, the Minister has affirmed that presence of the General Director and WIPO delegation is the important event for activities of MOST and Vietnam’s Government. The Minister has highly appreciated consideration and supports of WIPO experts for the Intellectual Property development in Vietnam.

On behalf of WIPO, Doctor Francis Gurry expressed his thanks Minister Hoang Van Phong for inviting the delegation to pay the official visit to Vietnam and his pride for working, cooperating and congratulating achievements Vietnam has gained over the past time. The Doctor has affirmed that Vietnam is integrating into the international market; therefore roles of Intellectual Property will be extremely important for Vietnam’s economic, scientific and technical development.

Recognizing merits and efficiency WIPO has given to Vietnam, especially Doctor Francis Gurry, who has worked and devoted over the past 25 years for Vietnam’s Science and Technology, Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology has decided to present the Campaign Medal of Science and Technology Cause, the honorable award for individuals who make a lot of contribution to Vietnam’s Science and Technology development cause. The Minister has emphasized that Doctor Francis Gurry has contributed to the development of Vietnam’s many fields including Science and Technology. Through Intellectual Property activities, not only Science and Technology development but also many other fields as industry, commerce, information, telecommunication, culture have good conditions to develop.

It is known that since entering WIPO in 1976, especially in recent years Vietnam has always received precious supports from WIPO in terms of experience in developing legal systems, Intellectual Property, organization of State management mechanism for activities as well as personnel training and Intellectual Property information. With its own efforts, WIPO’s supports has contributed a significant importance to Vietnam’s Intellectual Property protection system which is continuously modernized and completed to meet requirements of international economic integration.

Over the past 10 years, WIPO has continuously awarded WIPO prizes for Vietnam’s best innovators including WIPO prizes for the best innovators, the best female innovators and best young innovators as well enterprises using best Intellectual Property systems in their production and business. WIPO prizes have really been encouraging sources for Vietnamese innovators and become the goals for them to strive for and commit to Science and Technology research cause.
