Presenting the National Quality Award for enterprises

On January 17, 2010, the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality – Ministry of Science and Technology organized the Awarding Ceremony of the National Quality Awards and International Asian – Pacific Quality Awards for 108 enterprises.

Attending the Awarding ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Van Phong, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quan, General Director of Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Vice Chairman of the National Quality Awards Council Mr. Ngo Quy Viet and leaders of many Ministries, branches and representatives of enterprises.

Among nearly 200 enterprises awarded with the National Quality Awards, 11 enterprises have been presented with Golden awards, 97 enterprises with silver awards and 02 enterprises presented with IAPQA by the International Asian – Pacific Quality Award Organization, in which Vietnam Electricity Cable Joint Stock Company (Cadivi – HCM City) has won the first award for the type of big manufacturing enterprises and Petroleum Material Joint Stock Company (Comeco - HCM City) has won the second award for the type of big service enterprises.

The National Quality Awards have been established based on Vietnam Quality Awards originated by MOST from 1995. The Awards belong to the International Asian – Pacific Quality system in order to respect enterprises with best achievements in improving the competitiveness and performance efficiency. The National Quality Awards have been carried out on the basis of models and 7 criteria of Malcolm Baldrige Awards (MBA) – the US National Quality Awards.

Over the 14 years of performance (1996-2009), the Awards have created confidence of enterprises, management agencies and the society. So far, there have been more than 1,000 enterprises presented with Vietnam Quality Awards, 40 enterprises presented with certificates of merits by the Prime Minister and 19 enterprises presented with the International Asian-Pacific Quality Awards.

At the Awarding ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has highly appreciated efforts made by MOST over the past 14 years to organize successfully these Awards. The Deputy Prime Minister has affirmed that “The National Quality Awards has contributed to affirm the quality and confidence in Vietnamese products to start the integration. Through these Awards, we can affirm that Vietnam can manufacture good quality products”.
