Vietnam – China strengthened S&T Cooperation

Accepting the invitation of Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Van Phong, the Chinese Delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Deputy Minister Tao Kien Lam visited and worked in Vietnam from 29/3 to 2/4/2009.

One 31/3/2009, the Delegations of the two countries had a discussion with the contents: regarding high technology, the two parties agreed to strengthen cooperation between Hoa Lac High Technology Zone with Chinese High Technology Zones, especially Trung Quan Thôn High Technology Zone; regarding intellectual property the two parties continued to strengthen agreed activities, extending cooperation between the Office of Intellectual Property with the Chinese Department of Trade marks; regarding standards, metrology and quality, the two parties would promote the Cooperation Plan on standardization and metrology and access the appropriateness for the 2009-2010period ; regarding training for S&T managers, the Chinese party agreed that for the 2009-2011 period, each year one or two training courses for S&T managers would be conducted for Vietnam. The two parties have discussed some issues relating to the Agreement on S&T Cooperation and that China would support Vietnam with experiences to build nuclear electricity factories.

When the discussion was finished, the above mention contents were compiled in the Minute and signed between Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Thang and Deputy Minister Tao Kien Lam.
