The main purpose of this session is to review gained achievements from the 2nd session in Berlin on 4/2008 and propose basic cooperation contents between Vietnam and Germany for the coming time.
In the session, Mr. Christian Stienen has highly appreciated the cooperation between the two parties in the S&T field, especially environmental treatment in Vietnam over the past time.
Over the past years, S&T cooperation between Vietnam and Germany has gained many important achievements and together solved many issues as research on sustainable development; biological technology; biological research management; information technology and communications; climate change in which water and environmental treatment technology is the field at the biggest bilateral cooperation scale between Vietnam and Germany. So far, Germany has invested nearly Euro 23 million in this field in Vietnam. Some research projects have brought in high results as the research project on developing water-related information systems for sustainable development in Mekong delta (WISDOM); the project on Water Resource Management in provinces of Lam Dong, Can Tho and Nam Dinh (IWRM); the research project on applying advanced chemical and biological technologies for treatment of chemical harmful residues for environmental clearance and protection... Within the cooperation framework, Germany has granted many scholarships for training post-graduation experts in close combination with projects for Vietnam.
In this session, Vietnam has proposed some cooperation activities with Germany as promoting scientific research to strengthen the monitoring system of climate and climate change, S&T solutions for adaptation with climate change; experience of shifting open source software in the administration field; production of “Interferon” for cancer treatment and single antibody, production of biological kits for diagnosis in the health field...
