This is the annual meeting, aimed at reviewing and assessing results of cooperation activities agreed from the previous session at the same time discussing and reviewing the expansion of cooperation fields of common interests of the two parties.

Within the cooperation framework of this Session, the two parties have highly appreciated achieved results of research cooperation projects between the two countries, efforts of scientists participating in common research projects as well as close and effective coordination of agencies under the two Ministries.

On behalf of Vietnam’s Government, Minister Hoàng Văn Phong warmly welcomed Thailand’s Minister of Science and Technology and the Delegation of Thai scientists participating in the 6th Session. Since the 5th Session in Bangkok, Thailand (in 2007), the cooperation between the two countries have gained good results in the field of S&T research and use.

Minister Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich has shared: “When I was appointed as Thailand’s MOST, Vietnam was the first country I wanted to visit. I am so impressive with the development of Vietnam’s S&T, especially in the hydro-electricity field. Vietnam and Thailand have many similar features in terms of culture and history. I believe that the two countries will have many opportunities to cooperate in S&T in the future”.

In this Session, participants have briefed with results of Specialist Oriented Meetings (SOM) between Vietnamese and Thai Delegations on 16/09/2009. As a result, the two parties have highly agreed on cooperation fields of measurement, biological technology, material and mental technology, electronics and information technology, remote sensing and geographical information, alternative energy … The signing ceremony of the 6th Session was successfully organized.
