Training course on Science and Technology communications in Thailand

From 11/10 to 16/10/2009, the Center for Research and Development of Science and Technology Communications (S&T) organized reporters of some press agencies to participate in a training course on S&T communications in Thailand …

The delegation visited and worked with 6 agencies under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand: the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA); Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA); the National Science Museum; S&T Research Institute and Department of Science Services.

The Vietnamese delegation has been warmly welcomed from the agencies and briefed with development progress on S&T of Thailand. The two parties have exchanged and shared experienced in the field of S&T communications. The agreement has been made by the two parties, which S&T has played an important role in the social and economic development and needs to be paid more attention from many parties, especially relevant functional agencies. At the same time, in order to make communities in general understand the sciences, it is necessary to promote communication activities, active participation from press agencies as well as closed cooperation of scientists; organize many activities relating to S&T as exhibitions, fairs, games …

NSTDA’s communications experience is to carry out many activities as providing technical supports; developing S&T human resources through projects on “Sciences at school”, renovate teaching techniques and improving teachers’ capacities; building awareness of the public on S&T through mass media; training professional science communicators; supporting exhibitions and contests of scientific achievements …

The training course on S&T communications in Thailand is a good opportunity for Vietnamese reporters to learn S&T experience of Thailand – one of countries which have the S&T field developed with many similar characteristics with Vietnam.
