Attending the awarding ceremony were Mr. To Huy Rua – Member of the Political Bureau, Director of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education; Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan – Member of the Central Communist Party, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. LeDinh Tien, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.

The purpose of the National Technical Innovation Contest is to promote the innovation activities among the public and create new development steps in terms of Science and Technology, contribute to the social and economic development.

At the awarding ceremony, 66 among the total of 441 submitted solutions have been reviewed and decided to award prizes, in which 6 are first prizes, 12 second prizes, 18 third prizes and 30 consolation prizes in 6 following fields of Information Technology, electronics, telecommunications; Materials, chemicals, energy; Automatic mechanics, construction, transportation; Agriculture, forestry, fishery, natural disaster and environment; Medicines and pharmacy; Education and other fields.

It should be noted that among the first prizes awarded is "Methodology and tool for effectively eliminating types of mice with semicircle traps without using baits in all kinds of geographical locations" by author Mr. Tran Quang Thieu (Van Binh commune, Thuong Tin, Ha Noi).

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee, the Xth National Technical Innovation Contest has had many important progresses in terms of the quantity and quality of solutions. 42 Ministries, branches, provinces and cities have organized contests and 441 solutions have been sent to the Organizing Committee of the National Contest by local organizing committees of Ministries, branches and localities.

Also in the evening of awarding prizes of the X National Technical Innovation Contest, Mr. Francis Gurry – General Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has awarded 3 prizes for the Best innovator, the best female innovator and the best young innovator.
