Mr. Yukiya Amano expressed his thanks the Minister for spending to meet him. He highly appreciated Vietnam’s efforts in cooperation with IAEA as well as with other countries in the world during research and use of nuclear techniques in fields of health, industries for the social and economic development. Mr. Yukiya Amano said that, after the nuclear electricity incident in Japan, IAEA’s most prioritized issue has been to ensure the nuclear energy safety, and IAEA would continue its cooperation and support for countries, including Vietnam to develop atomic energy, especially the building of Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant.
Delivering a speech in the working session, Minister Nguyen Quan thanked for the cooperation and support of Mr. Yukiya Amano as well as of IAEA’s other officials for many past years, especially when Vietnam started the building of the first nuclear power plant. The Minister affirmed that Vietnam would closely cooperation with IAEA and other countries in the development of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, at the same time expressed his desire to have IAEA’s supports in training for experts in safety, monitoring consultancy .. during the process Vietnam builds and operates the first nuclear power plant.
