Minister Nguyen Quan met with Toshiba Group

On September 23, 2011, Minister Nguyen Quan had a cordial meeting with the representative from Toshiba Group - Japan.

In the meeting, Minister Nguyen Quan highly appreciated Toshiba’s cooperation in Vietnam’s nuclear program, especially Toshiba’s support for the human resource training program in the nuclear field as well as for the cooperation program with Hanoi Polytechniques University and Vietnam’s other agencies.

Minister Nguyen Quan said that in order to launch the nuclear power project in 2014 as scheduled from now until that time Vietnam would really need experienced experts in design, monitoring, consultancy and even experts in installation, equipment maintenance and operation. Training in university is not enough but it is necessary to expand training needs, more importantly training experts for first and foremost tasks of the nuclear power project. Therefore, the Minister proposed the two parties would discuss, development training programs for experts, especially designing experts and monitoring consultants to meet urgent needs which Vietnam would be faced with when it implements it nuclear power development program. The Vietnamese side would select those who work in atomic energy branch to be trained, firstly using Vietnam’s budget with the organization of MOST. For the long term Vietnam hopes to have support from Japanese side in general and from Toshiba in particular for this training program.

Also in the working session, Mr. Takahiro Iikura briefly reported to the Minister on Toshiba’s activities in Vietnam recently, including supporting Vietnam to training human resource in the atomic energy field in Hanoi Polytechniques University. Mr. Takahiro Iikura informed the Minister of Toshiba’s plan and asked for the Minister’s comment on the training materials and program … for the coming time.

Mr. Takahiro Iikura expressed his desires to continue developing cooperative relations with Vietnam. Especially, Toshiba is not only a strong company in the atomic energy fields but also in other technical fields. Toshiba very much hopes to be able to cooperate with MOST in many fields.
