Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân met with Dr. Michael Braun

In the afternoon of 01/9/2010, in Hanoi Standing Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) Nguyễn Quân had a working session of Dr. Michael Braun – Technical Advisor of Institute of Science Assessment and Technology Valuation.

On behalf of MOST, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân sent his thanks to Mr. Michael Braun for his cooperation and supports provided for the Institute of Science Assessment and Technology Valuation as well as his sharing with difficulties which Vietnam is faced with in this field.

“Evaluation activities in S&T field are very new to Vietnam. The Federal Republic of Germany is one country whose scientific foundation has been developed and scientific evaluation had a lot of experience. I hope with your consideration for Vietnam’s science, you will help us develop evaluation methodologies and criteria and carry out S&T tasks in the most efficient manner”, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân shared.

Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân emphasized that “Vietnam is in the early stage of the country’s industrialization and modernization so it really needs experience and contribution of scientists from developed countries. We hope that with the evaluation system, methodology and criteria, Vietnam will identify which field or research products could be continued to develop, field or research products are still weak and need to be stopped, based on that we can raise the level of research topics as well as investment efficiency of researches”.

Deputy Minister Nguyễn Quân highly appreciated the consideration paid by the Federal Republic of Germany for Vietnam and expressed his hopes that relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Vietnam would be better and better in the coming time, especially in the evaluation field. The Deputy Minister hoped that Mr. Michael Braun would like to pay more consideration and invite more his colleagues in Germany together with Vietnam to carry out properly this activity.

Dr. Michael Braun expressed his thanks for MOST’s confidence put in him and hoped he would contribute a modest part to meet MOST’s expectation. Dr. Michael Braun was very impressive and highly appreciated efforts made by Vietnam in general and S&T in particular in the country’s development.
