The Project’s objective is to build capacities for Vietnam’s policy makers and benefit groups in order to develop policies and strategies for industrial science, technology and renovation appropriate with the country’s social and economic objectives. The Project will support the Government to draft the Strategy for S&T Development for the 2011-2020 period through the participatory process and active consultation of benefit groups. The project will provide policy consultancy for the implementation of Law on High Technologies, which is effective as of 7/2009.

Ms. Nilgun F. Taş, UNIDO’s representative in Vietnam has said: “We are glad to start up this Project, which will timely contribute to the development of national strategies. Based on their international –scale experience and network, UNIDO’s experts will support and advise benefit groups to apply “Foreseeing methodology on renovation and high technology”. This is the methodology consisting of activities as defining positions; Delphi surveys, surveys of leading technologies; expert groups, development of prospective vision and road maps. We hope that methodologies will be adjusted appropriate for Vietnam’s context, absorbed in Vietnam and help the Government to work practical measures for promoting technology development.”

The project will be implemented within the framework of “One Plan” of the United Nations, which is the common plan of action between the Government and all 14 UN organizations in Vietnam.
