On 13/11, MOST organized the Vietnam - ASEAN+3 Techmart Wrap-up Conference to discuss to withdraw lessons learnt and award agencies and individuals which have contributed the success of this event.

Vietnam - ASEAN+3 Techmart has been successful and created important breakthrough for the establishment and development of S&T market in Vietnam. This event has attracted 651 agencies to participate (600 domestic agencies and 51 foreign agencies), exceeding 51as compared to the set target; 778 counters, exceeding 78 as compared to the set target. More than 3,000 technologies, equipment and services have been introduced and advertised, in which 95% are domestic technologies and equipment.

Mr. Ta Ba Hung – the Director of Information Center, Deputy Director of Techmart Standing Committee has emphasized that the biggest success of Vietnam - ASEAN+3 Techmart is the promotion of technology trading on a large scale and high efficiency. The signing of nearly 2,000 contracts and memorandum of understanding with the total value of VND 1,718 billion, in which 373 economic contracts have been signed with the value of VND 1,463 billion has showed the purchasing power and abilities to meet “supply – demand” in the country’s technology market.

During the time the event took place, more than 200,000 batches of people attended. 4 scientific conferences organized during the time Techmart took place have attracted more 600 participants to attend. The content of the Conferences have been focused on issues as Strategies for natural disaster prevention, environment technology in the climate change context; Saving energy and technology for using recycled energy; food processing; Intellectual property, Standards, Metrology and Quality and Technology Transfer.

The Award Review Council together with Professional Councils have appraised, assessed and selected 114 technologies and equipment among nearly 3,000 technologies and equipment of more than 600 participating in agencies so that MOST can award the Gold Cup of Vietnam Techmart.

In the wrap-up meeting, the Minister Hoang Van Phong has praised efforts as well as results of the operation of the Organizing Committee and members, especially the introduction and mobilization of ASEAN+3 countries to participate in the event. This Techmart has attracted significant attention and concern of the society; creating the play ground for transactions which are new and haven’t been evaluated for those who don’t understand well the market. The Minister has awarded certificates of merits for 12 collectives and 35 individuals which participate and significantly contribute to the successful of this event.

However, the Minister has emphasized that the next Technology and Equipment Markets, in addition to criteria of the number of participants and transaction contracts, it is necessary to pay the post –Techmart stage, this is to assess impacts and effectiveness of transactions occurs after the event. Currently the technology proportion has appeared more and more in Fairs of branches and fields. For example, the technology factor accounts for 50% in Fairs on information technology field. This is big challenge which requires our Technology and Equipment Market needs to affirm more clearly its own meaning, value and identity.
