Attending the opening ceremony are Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dong – Vice Chairman of Lamdong People’s Committee, Dr. Dang Thanh Luong – Deputy Director General of VARANS, Mr. Le Xuan Tham – Deputy Director of Lamdong Department of Science and Technology (DoST), Mr Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Director of Dalat Nuclaer Research Institute and other staff of VARANS, DoST.
Experts delegation from IAEA, ANSTO and US.DoE/NNSA is lead by Mr. Allan Murray – RSRS Project Leader. Participants of the meeting are representatives from the countries of Asia-Pacific region: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, USA, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Dr. Dang Thanh Luong, in his opening speech, expressed his appreciation to the support of IAEA, ANSTO and NNSA to countries under the RSRS Project in developing national capabilities, ensuring radioactive source security and to Vietnam in constructing the legal documents, training, installing security equipment at 20 radiation facilities, training VARANS and DoSTs staff to radiation and nuclear response.
For the purpose of exchanging information and sharing experience, experts focus on discussion, evaluation, identification of the developing national capabilities for ensuring radioactive source security in each country and in region.
