Minister Hoàng Văn Phong met with General Director of Russian Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom)

In the morning of 3/9/2010, at the office of Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Minister Hoàng Văn Phong met with General Director of Russian Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Sergei V. Kirienko.

In the meeting, Minister Hoàng Văn Phong highly appreciated the meaning of the working visit paid by Mr. Sergei V. Kirienko in order to actively prepare for the implementation of the first nuclear electricity factory in Vietnam. The construction of the factory has the important meaning for Vietnam. According to Minister Hoàng Văn Phong, supports provided to Vietnam in terms of capital, techniques, especially human resource training and technology transfer for operating the factory are extremely important factors, which are decisive for the success of the project.

General Director of Russian Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Sergei V. Kirienko expressed his pleasure to visit and work in Vietnam on the occasion Vietnamese people celebrated the 65th anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day of September 2nd. Mr. Sergei V. Kirienko also highly appreciated that Vietnam has been confident to select Russia in the project on constructing the first nuclear electricity factory in Ninh Thuan.

Rosatom’s General Director affirmed with Minister Hoàng Văn Phong that Russia would try its best to soon implement the project and transfer latest and safeties technologies for this nuclear electricity factory.

In the meeting, the two parties discussed a series of relating issues, especially the coordination among scientists to establish a training center, foster staff, experts and engineers for the factor and establish a research Institute of atomic energy.

MOST and Rosatom will continue promoting the preparation of the Draft Cooperation Agreement on constructing the first nuclear electricity factory in Vietnam so that the Government of the two countries can sign on the occasion of the official visit paid by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, which is expected in October 2010.
